Bought my first boat, and got it running thanks to these boards (thanks all):
[PICS]
http://img80.exs.cx/img80/9567/boat1.jpg
http://img80.exs.cx/img80/2277/boat2.jpg
$300 for the boat, trailer, and 2 Johnson motors (electric start 30 and 35hp).
The registration card lists it as a 1960, but
in my feeble search for information I found that Cadillac stopped producing boats in 1958. Anybody a Cadillac expert? Could someone shoot a from the hip appraisal? I plan on giving this bird a paint job this winter and selling it this spring... I'd like to buy a used Sea-Doo Speedster. :)

Hey Cones,

Nice boat. I have no idea how much it would be worth. It really depends on who you can find to buy it. A collector of such boats will pay more than an average joe looking for a nice little boat.

What's in the name "Cones" with the orange pylons for an avatar?

I just love the cool art-deco look of these vintage boats! Very nice! A Caddy boat - who knew!

awesome! :D
best bet would be to shine her up and take her to
a local antique boat show IMO. beware of putting
alot of $ into her, you may not re-coup investment.
as she sits u should be able to make a few $.
as with all antiques, origional cond. is better
than restored most times.
good luck,
M.Y.

Cones, I like the matching motor. It is probably not original paint, but I think it really looks good. You need a better place for the battery, however.

Racer: Both the Coronado and the Catalina look familiar, however I did notice that all of the Cadillacs are right drive in the brochures... strikes me odd, the dash is red along with the original paint, even the Cadillac emblazened steering wheel leads me to believe it's all OEM.
Oh, and the name has little signifigance... I had a penchant for cones one evening at a bar. :)

Chris: It almost looks as though Johnson had Cadillac in mind when shaping it's motor cover, or the transverse, Cadillac styled itself after those hot little motors... I'm really suprised at how well these motors run after all this time... The battery is in a new spot now (I'm sure you were losing sleep :) )..

UPDATE: Took her out this morning and nothing was unusual... Seems that every couple of minutes I get a miss or something...The engine jerks.. I wrote it off to old age, but today I lost my prop in the middle of the clear Mississippi. I fitted another prop but noticed I have a 1/3 turn of play when I turn the prop by hand... When I try for the top half of the throttle I rev WAY too high and get little by way of speed.. Perhaps that miss was infact a tooth missing in one of the lower unit gears and now I've stripped a whole bunch? (Sorry, this is defintely a engine related topic now.)
