Just pick this motor up, it is model 15926. It has electric start. It has a wiring harness on the front below cowling. I am having problems getting spark. Everything on the magneto looks good. Is there something I am missing with the electric start? Do I need to do some jumping on wiring? New at electric start. Have been around these old Evinrudes for about 40 years.

I do not believe electric start on that model has anything to do with spark. Double Check points, condensers and coils. I dont believe that motor even charges the battery. Does the harness have the kill switch wires in it that could be your problem.

Correct electric start / battery has nothing to do with making the spark.----The magneto does all that on its own.----Remove recoil.----Remove inspection plate and look at coils / points / condensers through the inspection hole in the flywheel.----No battery charging available for the universal magneto either.

Post #1 says everything in the magneto "looks good". Obviously, it isn't. So now go back and check it again.

1st of all, thanks you for the reply's. I agree with all of you. Just because it looks ok, doesn't mean it is. I am now removing the recently rebuilt magneto off another motor I have. Can't get parts this weekend, hopefully this will work. If it does, new ignition rebuild for this one. Once again, thank you.
