I cannot match that model number , although it is a valid number for a '58 35 hp

The impeller housing listed for '58 35hp is 0303831
the impeller is 0775521 or Sierra 18-3006
and the housing plate is 0303866

This impeller is approximately 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" wide. If your water pump has been replaced with an updated kit and the impeller is .735" tall and 2" wide you may need 0763982.

Chrome pump kit (impeller housing and plate ) 0386716 is also listed for some models

but you can easily find all this info in the parts lists on another well known marine engine parts website

I believe there are 2 different models of 35 HP with different water pumps.----Are there 2 water tubes on the pump or just 1 ?------Post pictures of this motor.---And is the model # correct ?

Ah ty very much. I'll pull it all off and make sure that impeller housing matches mine. Those numbers definitely helped.

I have no clue as I haven't pulled it apart yet. Here is a pic of the motor serial number and motor.

That pump will have 2 tubes I think.-----impeller is 777213, ---plate 312613,----housing is 378348 ------Some will argue.-----My approach would be to inspect the parts FIRST as you may only need an impeller.------Complete kit is available ( often not listed for 58 models ) and may not fit in your budget !!!----There is a kit available that will work, yes there is !.------I would first evaluate this motor before spending beer tokens on parts !----How did the motor run for you last season ??-----Note---I do own a 58 Johnson model which is the same motor.

Ty. I am trying to take it apart now. Cant seem to get the lower unit off. This motor hasn't been ran in 12 to 15 years. Took out the 6 bolts holding it on and from what I see and the diagram I'm going off of the unit should then just slide out. The front part of the lower unit separates but the back doesnt. Maybe just corroded together?

Ps nvm I found there is a bolt on top covered by the lower motor cover.

Ah looking in the little port on the bottom I can see it does have 2 tubes running to the pump.

Yep found it :). Still doesnt want to slide out but does move freely now. I've watched a few videos on newer motors and they have a linkage they have to disconnect. Is there something like that that I'm missing or do I just need to give it a good yank?

Guessing this is the linkage I was missing. Sorry I'm new to working on motors so this is all a learning experience for me.

Put hammers away and stop yanking.-----Remove 2 wee covers on the side and REMOVE one bolts from shift rod connecter.-----Do a complete evaluation of this motor BEFORE spending any beer tokens.-----Be silly to have a $200 water pump kit for a motor that is JUNK in my opinion.

Yea I have been working on the rest of the motor. Had a friend check it out and he said it had good compression and spark. I've already rebuilt the carb and fuel pump as well as a new starter motor. Got the lower unit off and the housing looks good so wont nee to get that. Thanks for the help.

You may just need a new impeller.
Ty. That is what it is looking like. There was a type of ring on top of the housing that still looked fine. The housing as well looked fine. The impeller had all but 2 fine broken off so that definitely needs replacing. The metal plate below the impeller needs to be cleaned up but also looks fine.

Sorry but how do I test the thermostat and find where it is?
The parts lists for '58 models dont show one but if yours is the same as a '59 model it is part #105 under the cover #102

To test it first check that it is closed
If it is place it in a pan of water a little cooler than its specified opening temperature (143F) then heat it slowly watching carefully.
It should just start to open at 143F and open fully if you continue to heat,

It helps to trap a thread by the opening flap and suspend it by the thread so that it will drop off the thread as soon as it starts to open
