this is more for my lower unit and i dont know what the part is but i will explain it the best i can well there is a piece broken off my lower unit right where it attaches to the upper unit. it is partially attached to the horizontal piece where they both connect. it is on the prop side and it runs about 3 in. down from the horz. piece. it seems as though i can get this motor to run fine but i think this is causing a problem and it would run better.

Probably be better to post in the Evinrude/Johnson section.If you have a 3" piece missing you need to replace the assembly.You should be able to get it off ebay or perhaps Twin cities outboards or over at the antique outboard motor club www.aomci.org You'll need to send a picture.
