Have been running my boat for the year in the water. Have done a rebuild of the carb other various parts. I am now noticing when first getting into the water the boat is putting out alot of extra gas in the water. After the boat runs in the water for about 20 seconds the gas is gone. Also when stoping say too fish the gas tends too pick up again even if the motor isn't running leaking out from under the water somewhere's. Am going too take the boat out right now too focus on the problem at hand and see if I can get any more information. Would like too get it back up too top notch before putting it away for the season. Thanks.

if it starts good, idles well and runs good at wot, it is was it is. the oldies are dirty, they drip goop, leak in odd spots and are generally messy! ( i think i just described me!!:D) if the motor is a bit cranky....you just may have to tune it up a bit more. jmo

What you are seeing is exhaust residue.Excess fuel in the crankcase is simply vented down the exhaust.
It is possible to collect it and recycle through the intake or if clean add it to the tank.(crankcase discharge is clean).
If your on a pressure tank you might release the pressure while off.Might eliminate any excess from the carb.

Pretty typical of these old motors. Only one drop of exhaust residue can look like a pretty severe oil spill on the surface of the water. It's not as bad as it looks.

I have already have comments from people passing by just didn't want too be the guy messing up the lake. Well will try too rear seal the lower unit just to make sure nothing eles is leaking. Nice motor just wasn't leaking a month ago.

O-rings on the fuel inlet maybe? Or a hose clamp?

Have the lower unit pressure tested before tearing it down.
