The last thing between my boat and the water is a stuck carburetor float.
Its a 59 Merc 55A. I have removed the necessary pieces to gain perfect access to the upper carburetor.
I've found the blowup diagram from the parts manual, so I can see what all is in there and the order in which its put together. But, its not clear on how its all secured together. Will the float levers and needle just fall out when I take the float bowl cover off? Or are they held in place?
Basically, I'm wondering what to expect when I take the float bowl cover off. It seems simple enough by looking at the diagram, but you never know...

Thanks

You should be removing the carb from the engine before you disassemble it. There usually is a small rod that the float pivots on. They don't usually fall out. The needle valve usually hangs on the float tang by a small wire.
