Hi, I'm new here so please have mercy on me. I have a 1960 model 15032 Fastwin 18 motor that needs a rebuild kit for the fuel pump or a new pump. I don't know any of the history on this motor except that it does run if I can keep fuel to it. The diaphram is stiff and the spring is broken. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for the parts I need? Thanks in advance for any help, lamarrd

Before advising on either a kit or a pump, which pump is installed.

Over the years, people sometimes swap them, or put aftermarket like Sierra on.

A pic would pinpoint this.

Is it a small square pump, or a rectangle with pointy top?

Hi lamarrd. Welcome to iboats. Great motor you've got there. An exact part number would help as some models of fuel pumps are not rebuildable, unfortunately. Hopefully, it still has the factory pump. Here's a complete parts list along with exploded diagrams for your motor as well as some other handy websites to help you get her up and running in no time. You can get most routine parts like carb kits, tune up kits, etc...right here at iboats. Holler if you get stuck.

Thanks for the welcome and especially for the information. Now I know my fuel pump is original for my motor. Now I need to find where to get a rebuild kit for it. I think new ignition parts may be in order also. It runs as is but I'd like it to be in top condition.

The original pump, 377927, was superceded by the "small square pump" 388635, which is 80 bucks new. With some minor hose re-routing, a Sierra 18-7350 could be used for 50 bucks. It is advised to replace the fuel lines with alcohol resistant ones before they disintegrate.
I could not find a rebuild kit for the original 377927 pump.

Will the Sierra 18-7350 supply enough fuel for the 18 hp? It is recommended for 6/8/9.9/15 hp. This would be the least expensive to buy if it will do the job.

It should be fine. Take a look here: http://maxrules.com/fixomcvro.html
It list the 388685 pump for 4-25 hp.
Also Laing's outboards lists the 18-7350 for up to 25hp. http://www.laingsoutboards.com/newpage4.htm
Buy it here:

Note that you may have to do some minor hose rerouting, but the hoses really need to be replaced anyway if they are original.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll go with the Sierra 18-7350. Now I have to find some other parts I didn't know I needed until I started pulling the flywheel and it came apart. I had to cut the center off the crank! Hooray for zizz wheels!!

I couldn't get the flywheel to come off at all. I used a 3 bolt puller and it pulled the mounting flange apart ruining the flywheel. I had already let it soak in penetrating. The inside steel part of the flywheel was still seized as if welded on it. The wheel was already ruined so I cut 2 slits in it and finished breaking it apart to get it off. I'm 60 yrs. old, went through and graduated from an 18 month course in small engines. I worked as a Millwright machinist several yrs. in a cotton mill. I have encountered and repaired many seized bearings etc. but this was the worst one yet. I can't find a magneto cam so I'll probably have to scrap it out.

Can you please post a picture of the damage you are describing?

You shouldn't have to scrap it, there are plenty of used parts around.

There is a list of salvage yards in the Top Secret Files, but I would make a post on the aomci.org free classifieds first.

Some "wise person" probably put Loctite on the crank taper.

The threads did pull out along with the flywheel without the center portion. I have found all the parts I need to repair it so I will not scrap it. All the parts are on order now. I'll try to get some pics up soon! I think Tx is right about loctite used on the taper.
