1960 fastwin 18hp impeller change

The manual is it's way, but am wondering if the power head has to be removed to drop the lower unit to change waterpump impeller?

There is a shift link, I belive on that motor on the right side of the mid section, two flathead bolts take off a cover than you can get access to that. Im not sure what kind of bolts where used for the shift link, some people replace them with other kinds of bolts, Sockets, Flatheads, Alen Key or Phillips, ya never know.... I would take the top bolt out so you can inspect the threads on the shift link. After that take all of the bolts out of the L.U (LOOK AT DIAGRAMS!) there is always a hiding bolt! After that it could just drop, you might have to pull the rope SLOWLY to get it lose. If the shaft isnt stuck, it will drop down. The water tube should come out of the housing easily.
