so i have been working on a 1960 glastron fireflite so far i have split the hull removed the wood floor the lower supports the transom, and the dash. replaced it all with new stronger wood. now i have put the top hull back on and glassed it together in only a few spots since i will have to re seal it when the outer trim is installed. now i need to know a few basic things. what fabric should i redo the seats with? will carpet rot the floor (that is covered 3 times in glass)?
what tyep of carpet is good. and paint what should i use to paint the outer boat i used a self etching primer so far. and last is a boat like this capable of installing a tow bar the manufacturer clams it is but is a 35 hp motor strong enough to do this?

- Seats: Marine vinyl
- Carpet: will not rot the floor. Water on wood rots. Use Marine carpet (rubber backed)
- Rustoleum and Interlux both make nice roll-and-tip topside paints
- 35hp is enough to pull a tube around. Tough to get a skier out of the water.

Sweet looking Fireflite . I am starting the process on a 60 Cutter myself . I will concur on the marine vinyl for the seats and if you actually put carpet back in marine carpet as well. I would say for paint you could do the Interlux or Rustomleum roll and tip method but seeing as how it looks like you have the ability to spray I would look into spraying her with a nice imron paint .

Glastron used vinyl floor covering also, that would be another option. Anything that can trap water and hold it is going to be a potential hot spot for rot, even 3 layers of glass are only water resistant, not water proof...at least not completely. All it takes are a few big swings in temperature for the wood to expand and contract and make an opening for moisture.
