I just wired a '67 40 hp Evinrude, had the wire harness almost to the throttle control with starting switch. Maybe I can help a little (unless someone having more knowledge/experience beats me to it). What wire colors do you have?

Wjs,
Are you looking for a harness or just help figuring one out? I have a couple from the junction box to switch. Also have a couple junction boxes that need new solenoids.

That diagram is shown in the Clymer Repair Manual 1956-1972 J/E engines.

There is no online site offering this copyrighted material. You can buy the manual here or at any marine store.

I just looking to figure it out! I bought a new ignition and I an having a tough time because I dont think the wiring harrness is the correct one for this engine. Several wires are not connected to the motor just the major wires to the selinoid. I am new to the boating world and would appreciate some help. as far as the coloring of the wires I will find out tonight when I return to the "Beast"
thanks guys
