Hello,

I have a 1960 Johnson qd-21 Seahorse 10 hp outboard (location CA) that runs (slightly) but something is wrong with it at high speeds, it dies out. I think it might be carburator but was wondering what something like this is worth in current condition? Its obviously older and shows it on the outside but on the inside its in pretty good shape besides whatever is wrong with the carb. Just curious what a decent selling price might be for it as is?

Thanks,

Jake

Jake,

I have the same model and it runs great, sorry I can't help with the repair. I am interested in purchasing a second QD-21 however.

Start with some testing and inspection.------Remove recoil.-----Remove plate on top of flywheel.----Do you see newer coils in there ?----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" on both leads?-----Do a compression test and post your results.

Just a $50 parts motor in my opinion.-----Often get them for less or free.
