I have a question for you. I found my water pump parts and installed them no problems. Also did the fuel pump over. The problem I have is that the motor is heating up and shuting off after about 10 min of use. Cools off and starts up then dies out again. Pump is working I'm getting water peeing out. Any ideas why the motor isn't cooling off?

Re: 1960 Merc 300s Overheating

Took off power head and found out that the rubber grommet on end of tube fell down inside of float. Fixed it put hose to intake and have water leaking out of plugs, looks like it needs a new gasket not leaking out of the socket. Now I can get the lower unit to go into gear, its stuck in forward. dropped unit and tried it by hand no luck. Was working fine before any clues.

turn it the shift shaft clounter clockwise

try to take the top cam out and use that for leverage.

it can be a bit tuff since the motor is spring loaded into foward gear
