Anybody ever restore one of these? I'm going to go get it Saturday. $125.00 complete (no controls). Though it would be perfect fit for a late 50's glasser I've been dinking with.
I've never had one, but I do know it takes a special kind of Merc-o-phile to mess with the "dockbusters". When set up right, they do sound sweet, though!
compression should be around 120-125lbs. psi. if it's a good one grab it. the controls turn up for a price on ebay and parts are available. has no nuetral it starts in gear forward or reverse. have one right here that i wouldn't part with. seaway still has the parts
I intend to start on restoring a Mark 75A this summer. Parts are available but pricey. We used to repair a lot of them in the day, most of the talk about dockbusters was caused by inapt mechanics or customers dinking with them.
Thanks for the responses. I'm on the fence with this one, it's a rebuild for sure if for no other reason than it's going on a non-collector fiber glassic and it's period perfect. Someone painted this one black for the most part but the cloud white is still visible. The motor is only 125.00 and hard to resist. The boat I have has the original harness and controls in it still but they need some work.
This is probably going to sit in the back of the shop until winter. I have a two month fishing trip comming up next month and that has priority over everything right now.
Sorry, didn't get back to this until today. I passed on it, I don't see it on craigs list anymore either. Sorry I don't have an email address for the guy, just the craiglist email address.
