1960 Stamas Titan, according to Stamas, only a limited number was built. Found stringers were rotten and the transom had been a home for wood ants years ( After I got it home). It has a Chrysler 125 on it. Owner said it was running, engine rotates by hand ( did not do a full rotation on it) . Have some before tear down and where I'm at now photo's included. New-be at Stringer and transom rebuild, been checking any and all info on fiberglassing and epoxy. Been a mechanic for years and this would make a good weekend project......Any thoughts and ideas would be great.

Contacted Stamas and found that the wood for the stringers should be KDAT Lumber, Found a place local that can get the wood and they carry Marine Plywood. Problem is that it will take 3 weeks to get the KDAT wood in. Center stringer has enough material to make a pattern, the two outside are gone....
Planning on wrapping the new stringers in Fiberglass, then glassing them in. Planning on it being a long project.

What's left of the existing stringers are made out of 2 x 4 ( Both outside ) and a 2 x 6 ( Center ) that's cut down to 2 to 3 inches hull to deck height for the outside stringers and the center was cut down to 5 inches and less on the ends. have about 2 inches from the hull to deck at the transom. Did not think that there would be enough material to provide support for the hull and deck, using plywood.

Laminate 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood and you'll have plenty!!! + It'll be much stronger!!!;)

This is what I was thinking, stringers, coat and cover with Glass and resin then placing them in PB, Glassing to hull, laying 3/4 marine plywood for the floor, Glassing that in place. Then redo the transom, same method, Glassing into the stringers. Looking at expanding foam for between hull and deck. Biggest space is 6 inches to 2 inches. For support and flotation.

Sounds like a plan. If you're gunna foam the hull, you might consider using 1/2" ply for the deck. The foam will provide plenty of support.

I may be jumping ahead of myself, but I'm trying to get an idea on how I want to lay things out. It appears the there was a Head on the boat. I have two pass thru on the hull, the old wood that was there had a cover and cutouts for folks to sit and use it. Question 1. By todays rules and regulations, a holding tank is required, nothing gets dumped overboard. Question 2. can you use a maserating one? ( guessed at the spelling )

I think you'd still need a holding tank. My boat has a manual head and a 10 gallon black water tank. Although I don't have a macerator, the waste in the holding tank is always liquefied and pumps out easily, possibly due to the added chemicals. What size boat is yours? Is there room for a holding tank? Would a porta-potty work, or would you prefer a marine head? This is really becoming a crappy post :drum::lol:.

The boat is 20 ft, with a cuddy cabin, the previous owner said there used to be a head there, but with today's regulations and everything I didn't want to get plugged up with it not being right. Putting in a holding tank will be tricky, not much room between the deck and hull. Unless I fit it into a compartment, or go with a " Port-a-potty"

Working on grinding the old stuff out, can only spend a few hours onSundayto work on it. Have before and where i'm at now. Get it all ground out, then comes the transom, getting that ready for replacement.

Another question, at the aft end of the boat, the stringer height is about 2 to 2 1/2 high. The drain is just above the hull, below floor height. If I box around the drain to the floor height, how can I or should I fab some kind of way to let any possible water under the deck to drain out. Planning on using expansion foam under the deck when I get to that point.

Removed the old transom yesterday, it was ate up by wood ants....
Have more grinding to do, where the transom was and where the old floor was.
Have a bunch of holes to fill in after new transom is in. Previous owner filled them in with silicon.
