This is my 18' 1961 alumacraft Queen Merrie runabout. I've had it for almost 2 years now but there have been several external circumstances postponing progress. Now that she's almost in useable condition I thought I'd start a restore thread. Here's Miss Jenny.

I decided that the cedar was way too light colored and it doesn't take stain well. I originally wanted and someday will do mahogany. For now fire will have to do! Charred with a torch on the right and sanded on the left.

Then it got some tung oil( above pic also) for more rot, insect, and water resistance.

Finished floor. I have a 1976 Johnson triple on her for now. I rebuilt the carbs, water pump and put a telltale tube on it and it's great. Oh after I sold the boat and trailer the motor were on it only cost me $250. I had to buy some longer teleflex cables for the controls. Seating is going to be 2 60's retro fiberglass swivel seats as soon as I figure out mounts. Paint will happen in winter or early spring. Just the bottom below the splash rail and maybe the ridge around the inside as well as inside of the hull. Other than that it just needs a few finishing touches on wiring and the steering hooked up.

Whoa that paint job on the Johnny is super wild!

Just a question about flotation for your little tinny, where is it going to be?

It will be on my garage. It hindered the look I was going for too much. I do have a co2 ballast bag (unsure of nomenclature) should the shtf. Currently having water pump issues on the Johnson. I believe its the pump housing itself. I ran a hose through the water tube and it comes out the telltale and there's a new impeller/ gaskets but the water won't pump through the engine. Checked the impeller/key 3 times so far.
