My charging system is the alternator type and is overcharging so bad it bogs down the motor, i have tested everything and replaced the voltage regulator. one thing i noticed is that i am getting 12 volts in the blue field wire at the regulator, does anyone have any ideas?

Your question is a little vague...how do you know the charging system is bogging down your motor. I was thinking that motor had a generator, not an alternator...enlighten us with some more information and someone should be able to help...just a thought :)

what is the voltage it is putting out? what is the battery voltage (wothout it running) if the generator is pulling that hard on the engine then something is demanding a large amount of current. I think these only put out about 10 amps at max charge.
