:)Well, I just got bit by the bug. Been reading and following several of you guys for the past couple of weeks and was searching Craigslist for my "Project" and Voila' there she was. She was 200 miles away so I called a friend to go check her out and he said "If you don't buy her I will!!!" so she is now mine, sight unseen. Price for Boat, Motor, and Trailer $250.00 Motor was supposedly running fine last spring. Needs tires to get her home but I AM excited to go get her next weekend and get her home to Tulsa. I will create a site to post pics and keep you all posted of my progress. I am POSITIVE I will have a TON of questions. I have excellent woodworking skills and some fiberglass work in the past. Did a lot of water sking when I was a kid but that was a loooooooong time ago. Want to get this boat up and running for my grand kids to go tubing. Should be fun. Looking forward to chatting with all of you as the project progresses.:)

Very cool little project. Good luck with it!

If you're going to be hangin' around....set up a photobucket account and link to your images there instead of dealing with iboats tiny photo restrictions.

i would really look into a different motor. the electric shift models are not so favored. notice the buttons on the control box. foward neutral and reverse.

maybe something a little newer. poursonally 70's that is not that style of motor( super quiet) and not electric shift. the lower units in those style motor were not so strong.

great boat though!:D

sorry to bring you down on the whole motor story. in the end its your choice.

Nice boat- She's got great lines. Good start for a restoration project. I've been know to pick them up sight unseen from CL as well :). It'll be nice to see this one restored.

You can download copies of the original brochures here-

If I'm not mistaken, that's a vintage Gator trailer under her-

Though it looks like you're missing one of the chrome hubcaps...

Those are great trailers- If nothing else, that was worth what you paid for the package.

Nice find...is it tin or f-glass? Looks like a glass boat.

Well the weather in Tulsa has been extremely cold. 2 degress Farenheit this morning. Good news is we should be in the 40's and 50's by next weekend and I can go pick her up. I will take more pics and update the thread. Thanks to everyone for your responses so for. My friend said the transom and floor looked very good and solid so I might be lucky and just need to do a cosmetic cleanup and motor tune up. We will just have to get her home and start the process.

Will keep you posted.

Got Her Home today!!!! Got a small problem, Maybe!!!!!! Small hole in hull at the bow. By tilting the boat up and down on the trailer I hear lots of water sloshing around on the inside. Since I need to fix the hull can I just slice the hull and let the water drain, then patch the pull to get a temporary patch to see if I can get thru one season befor cutting the floor out to see what all is bad underneath?? Pics are on Photo bucket. (See Link)

Any advice is appreciated.

You know there is water under the deck, and most likely rot. You have no history on the boats past so why risk you and your passengers safety out on the water? I would not risk it. You have plenty of resources here to help you make this right. Good Luck!

I love those old LoneStars. I had an old old alum Lonestar as my first boat. Should have never gotten rid of it. It was a good little boat.

Be sure to contact the LoneStar Club out there...there are some guys with some very specific information about the boats.

Well, Further inspection this morning in the Bilge turned up a Drain plug in the side of the Bilge to allow the water under the floor to drain into the bilge. It appears this is how it was designed. I wish I knew the undefloor construction. I keep wondering if it is all fiberglass or am I just wishful thinking?? Anyhoo I tilted the boat to the stern and voila' all the water came draining out, probably 20 - 30 gallons. No more sloshing!!! Does anyone out there have experience with the underfloor construction of these old lonestars??

Any suggestions on how to repair a thumbsized hole in the hull from the outside. Do not want to tear out the floor this season.
