Hi,
I found a 1961 mercury 500 with controls (steering wheel and oem throttle). Supposed ran well last it was used, but was last used long ago. It looks like it's been stored inside since and looks to be in pretty good condition.
The guy is asking $200cad ($160 usd) for it which seems to be pretty fair. Just wondering if this is a fair price before I pick it up?

A fair price.----Your location ?----Many parts are available.----Will need points in magneto cleaned and set at 0.010" , carburetors cleaned.---New impeller and gear oil.-----You have to learn to work on it yourself , few shops will help you.

Kind of depends what you are doing. If you have a classic 60's runabout and want the authentic look, that is your motor. Otherwise, at least in my area (Ohio), I can get into a Merc from the 70's and 80's for not too much more. As mentioned, you will have to work on it yourself as not many around who will. It does have classic style though. ;)

Have you touched it? If it wasn't for the tarp it's on, it would be in the dirt and not inside.
