Re: 1961 Viscount

I'd like to see pictures of Starcraft 16ft. Viscount boats . Can anyone help ? Thank You

I see some pics have been posted, I have a 1960 sitting in my garage right now. I picked up an Islander last summer so the Viscount with 1991 40 hp jonny is up for sale in the spring. It has been an excellent boat, my hull in in near mint condition, no damaged rivets, no leaks, only a couple minor scrapes.
Just had to go bigger as I have 5 grandkids that want to fish. Have enjoyed the 16' for many years.

Could you tell me if your 16 ft boat has a floor ? How is it held down ? Can you send me pictures ?

Can't tell if floor is original or not. When I got the boat it just had plywood laying on the ribs and sliding about. I created my own floor with carpet, however due to the shallowness of this boat, I only have a floor that is 30" wide. If I made it wider it would come up to far (sides/ bottom curve) and your knees would be in your chin. The 30" wide floor works well though as it kepps persons moving about more close to center, and the flat floor allows easier storage of tackle boxes, minnow buckets etc. I decided on the width then layed a straight edge (30" wide) across and measured the drop along the keel area and cut a piece of wood to make a spacer along the center so the floor would not flex when you stepped in the middle. I used 1/2" exterior grade strand board for the floor and covered with carpet. We then noticed how easily items dropped found their way under the floor so we used expansion foam to fill the gap between board and bottom. Stainless steel screws were used and screwed thru board into ribs, it only takes a few to hold it in place. Has worked excellent for the past three years and still looks like new ( except for a few fish remains on the carpet). have not had any luck posting pics on this forum, would like to though.

Actually it would be in your side yard (lol) I am less than 20 miles due west on Rt 20 from you. Still have the 16' viscount, no bites on the late fall sale so she's sittin in the barn waitin for spring. One problem That I faced was the 16 was sittin next to the 22' Islander and everyone that looked at it thought it looked quite small, so I will seperate them for the spring sale. The floor is really quite easy to do if you have some woodworking tool skills. A sheet of exterior grade plywood, skill saw, carpet and glue and some ss steel screws.
Sealing the edges with expansion foam is also easy, after it dries just trim with fillet knife. I sprayed the alum floor with silicone spray so the foam would not stick for easier removal after trimming, but does keep lures etc from rolling under floor boards.

OK now lets see those photos. Just saw a lot of red necks headed your way with big sticks and a rope.
