New to me 62 40hp Evinrude Lark6 has not be started in about 10 years.
Model 35028L (what does the L mean longshaft?)

Acquired 2 manuals for 1.5 to 40 hp motors and they both mentioned a generator that should be on the motor but I find none. Is that right or did the PO remove it. I do not see anything missing where the gen should be (no bracket with missing part or empty bolt holes).

Also got a new to me 15' Starcraft boat model "15' JET" serial is 69-???? is this a 69 model boat (still waiting on title)?
I tossed out the rat nest, chicken eggs, wasp nests, and gave the boat a good bath and it doesn't look half bad. Just needs lights, paint, seats, and steering cables. Has small leak where the transponder for the fish liar is mounted shouldn't be to hard to fix.

Was also wondering if this motor could be fitted with a twist grip to use on boat not setup for a steering wheel and throttle and shift linkage box? Wanted to replace a 9.9hp johnson an another boat.

If this mtr has a manual shift g/c it may never had had a generator.

boobie thanks for the reply.
YES it does have the manual shift. (i'm guessing g/c is gear changer?)

Found out today that I have about 75 psi compression in each cylinder with a leaky compression tester.
Found out that the starter works.
Found out that the electric choke works.
Found out that the solenoid does not. May just be the rust on the connections. Will find out next weekend.
