bought a 1963 hydrodyne from a buddy and at the time it fired and we had it out several times. However the last time I took it out it died on the water and I had to be towed in. Battery is new - spark plugs are new - battery cables are clean at the point of contact with the battery and it backfires when I try to start it. I am hesitating on taking it in to the shop because I am afraid that the outcome could be grim and high $ to fix - only paid $500 for the boat motor and trailer.. Any ideas?
