EDIT prop washer #304576 EDIT. These fit my motor as well as many other 1960's models. I may have lost mine and need one ASAP. No local boat shops, so I'd have to order and wait days for snail mail. However, there are plenty of industrial supply shops here. If I knew the dimensions, I'm sure that I could find one that is close.

Could somebody please post the ID and OD? Also, how tight is the fit between the ID and the prop? In other words, if I find one that is a bit different from the OEM on the ID, I'm wondering if it will still fit over the prop without being too tight or too sloppy. How about the OD? Is there something restricting the size of the OD? Thanks.

I didn't want to buy one. I just wanted to know if somebody had one that they could measure that was not currently on their motor.

It isn't exactly an earth shaking event. That washer really doesn't do anything except go along for a boat ride. It is there to keep the prop from spinning against the drive pin if you clobber something hard enough to let the prop spin on the rubber hub. I'll bet there are a lot more motors running around with the washer missing than with it.

Okay thanks FR. I'll go without it for now while I wait for one to arrive next week.

Re: 1963 75hp Prop Thrust Washer

I got that washer today. It fits nicely on my "standard" prop but it doesn't fit on my "small hub" 10X9 1/4 prop part #379260. The ID of the washer isn't big enough to fit over the part of the prop that protrudes out and has the holes for the drive pin. I've read that the standard washer part #304576 should fit any of the props that work on my motor. Is there a different washer for the small hub prop?

The parts lists I checked do not show a different thrust washer for prop #379260 BUT do list a different prop nut (309947), drive pin (309954) and cotter pin (309955). I believe your "small hub" prop is from the late 60's mechanical shift motors that OMC referred to as the "standard gearcase" to differentiate it from the electric shift gearcase and the original, large hub mechanical shift gearcase they called "heavy duty". Your washer (304576) should only work with props designed for the electric shift gearcase. Remember, I'm not an expert. Good luck!

EDIT: Found a footnote in the parts list for 1965 Johnson 60HP models VX-VXL-11C that says washer 304576 should be used with prop 379260. If it does not fit, maybe your prop got re-hubbed at some time during the previous 47 years and there is something dimensionally different about that hub. Repeating, I am not an expert. Just trying to help!

Okay, as FR says, it probably isn't a big deal to run without one. I'll see if Fastenal has a washer that will work. If not, I'll go without it. I keep the 304576 for my standard-size prop.
