1963 Mercury 850 Gears

1963 Mercury 850 (85HP)<br /><br />I am riding out the remainder of this season with a weak reverse and leaking seals on my lower unit. I want to rebuild the entire lower unit this winter. I am looking for a good source for old gears. Can anyone help? Or does anyone have a lower unit you want to sell?

I got a used lower unit for a 1974 merc 850 at kings marine lake Tawkoni tx for $400 with new water pump installed and im real happy with it. agefhx, do you have gears for sale? I don't know if they will fit either. How much do you want for them though?

The only good gear i got is reverse, the fwd and pinion gear are shot. I dont know about price, hmm maybe $30 plus shipping. If interested give me ser no of motor and ill see if part # is same as mine.

Hi guys, my name is dan, and I am new here. just got my first boat, its a 77 body with a 63/64 merc 85Hp. not totally sure of date. motor runs great, but when boat gets to plane, it seems to want to slip out of gear. doesnt do it all the time, but more often that not. any ideas? could it just be fluid? appreciate any help you can offer.
