1963 Mercury model 110 propeller and propeller shaft

I ordered a new prop for my 1963 mercury model 110, the prop has the same 6 splines as my old one does but where the splines on the inside of the prop are the same number of them the actual inside of it is about 2 inches to long. Is there more than one length prop shaft for this old mercury.
