1964 EVINRUDE 3HP YACHTWIN MODEL 3432.<br />PROBABLY HAS 500 HOURS ON IT. NO KNOWN TUNE UP EXCEPT NEW PLUGS SINCE 1964.<br />PROBLEM: MOTOR LOSES POWER FOR RANDOM PERIODS 1 TO 10 MINUTES AND JUST AS SUDDENLY ROARS BACK TO LIFE FOR 1 TO 10 MINUTES. WHEN IT "SLOWS" I HEAR A FAINT CLICKING SOUND LIKE WHEN YOUR AUTO SPARK PLUG WIRE ARE WET AND SHORT OUT, BUT IT MAY BE MY IMAGINATION.<br /> I'VE INSTALLED NEW PLUGS AND PLUG WIRES. <br /> THE GAS IS NEW AND MIXED PROPERLY.<br /> I'VE DISASSEMBLED THE CARB. IT LOOKED BRAND NEW. I SAW NO NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS.<br /> POINTS ARE HARD TO SEE BUT LOOK CLEAN AND ARE NOT PITTED.<br />WHEN IT RAN ON "SLOW" SPEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, I STOPPED THE ENGINE AND PULLED THE PLUGS. THE TOP PLUG LOOK NORMAL, BUT THE BOTTOM PLUG WAS WET WITH GAS. SO I'M THINKING IT'S RUNNING ON ONE CYLINDER AND I HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. BUT THE RED HERRING IS WHEN IT RUNS ON "SLOW" SPEED IF I PULL OUT THE CHOKE AND JUST BEFORE IT DIES PUSH IT BACK IN 75% OF THE TIME THE ENGINE WITLL KICK IN AND RUN AT FULL RPMS - MAYBE BREIFLY MAYBE LONGER??? hOW CAN THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.<br />ANY SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'M IN THE BWCA IN MINN. AND AM 150 MILES FROM MOTOR REPAIR.
