1964 3hp Evinrude vintage Twin Duck outboard motor

I’m thinking of buying a 1964 Evinrude twin duck motor but really need to know what it’s worth before I make an offer. Can anyone help me out on this?

I never paid more than 50$ CDN for all mine (4) all freshwater motors


mke certain it is not seized if so bargain it down and take a chance on loosening it up later no big loss

you may need coils if originals are cracked and an impeller ( 2x20$) .. the rest may be mostly ok

Thanks Crosbyman. The seller has been told that the motor could be worth up to $700 USD. Don’t get me wrong, it’s in good shape to be that old and I really like it and would love to have it, but I knew that was too high a price. I was thinking $150 - $200 USD would I be giving too much?

Here in mn, that motor fully tuned and cosmetically excellent would perhaps bring $600. Looking fairly beat as it does, $350ish after full servicing. If it pulls over w/compression, and has been sitting in the shed for years, $150 would be max.. Those prices are that high because ducktwins are fairly rare, and there is a market for ‘em.. especially with excellent graphics.
That said, if you really want a ducktwin, and it has good compression.. they are fine motors when serviced, but you could likely find a regular lightwin for much less $..

Last 3 HP I picked up was part of a deal of 4 motors and 3 HP was a 1964.------About $100 each.-----And the 3 HP had the new ignition already so was really only $25 invested in that one.-------$700 must be a joke unless there was sentimental value.----Or an auction where the money went to charity.------Nothing special other than a standard 3 HP with camo paint !!

Thanks for all the advice. I was thinking that was way too high myself. I like the motor but I did have a limit in mind. Now that I know, a lot of negotiating will take place.
