What gear oil do I need to fill my 1964 9.5 hp johnson lower unit with??

Any "quality" brand lower unit oil will be fine. Heck, I'm using Mercury oil in mine right now. I have the same motor and I'm putting a new ignition system in it as we speak! Great motor (little tough to work on though because of the cowling and the casing).

HI baja82. yeah the brand isn't as important as the weight of the oil. Here's a pic of what you need.

There are many different brands and you can get it at Wal-Mart and/or marine supply stores. You'll probably want to pick up a pump while you're at it for about $10. They should sell them right next to the oil. One quart sized bottle should fill your LU several times. Here's a link on how to change it too. Good luck.
