Hi, I am new to out board repair so please bear with me. I recently began working on a 9.5 evinrude outboard. I bought a carb kit, cleaned the carb and the high speed jet. I replaced the plugs and fuel lines. The motor starts on the first pull and idles decent. When I shift into gear it run fine, but as I increase the throttle the engine starts to die. I think am not getting enough fuel into the card to keep it running at open throttle. But that is just a guess.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like your high speed adjustment knob is way off (or clogged) :D I know on my 57 7.5hp, i would not be happy if i lost my adjustment; because the knob could turn several rotations either way making it very hard to find the right spot.

Is the high adjustment the same as the lean/rich nob or is it something different? Thanks for the reply.

Is the High speed nob the tube that comes off of the carb with the lever/spring that moves side to side as you adjust the throttle.
