can anyone please tell me the mix ratio for my 64 9.5hp johnson seahorse. the decal is slightly worn off, and all i can read is ratio 50 : ?. iv'e been told 25 : 1 but it runs rough. is it 50 : 1? i am new to the boating seen and could use any help with my motor. i also have issues with the low idle rich and lean adjustment it wants to stall out when i troll with it. could that be because the mixture isn't right? the low idle mixture doesn't change anything when in low idle. could my carb be plugged up? would appreciate any help i can get.

the fuel/oil mix is 50:1

Your carb could easily need cleaning if turning the idle adjustment doesn't help.

If you're running it in a barrel, that motor is particularly susceptible to exhaust gases, so you might use a fan when testing it.

You might try running it with the cowl off and see how she trolls. Exhaust leaks are a common problem with that motor when it gets older.
Good luck,
