1964 Mercury 35 HP

I have a 1964 Merc 35 HP. I can't find the "proper" fuel mix. I have tried everything from 25-1 to 40-1. Seems hot at 40-1. Please help

50:1 is the normal mix. I'd try that.<br /><br />The temperature may seem lower with less oil as the fuel works as internal 'coolant'. I.e. more oil=less fuel.<br /><br />Still, the usually proper mix is 2%.
