Howdy, Reelfisherman.

You should use a manual to service your engine. The synchronization of throttle/carb/magneto timimg is just one example of procedures that are important to getting correct performance and long life from your engine.

Set your speed control to STOP.

Slowly advance the control until the cam follower just begins to open the throttle.

The timing mark on the cam and the contact point of the cam follower should now be aligned.

If an adjustment is required, loosen the cam mounting screws and position the cam so that, with all play removed from the linkage, the throttle valve is closed. The mark on the throttle cam must be aligned with the flat port side of the cam follower just as the follower makes contact with the cam. Tighten the screws.

Good luck. :)
