Just picked up project boat. As in the title line, boat has a 110 mercruiser and is a 18'er aluminum hull. Unable to find photo's to help us restore her looks. If anyone out there has one and would like to share photo's and info on this model, your help is greatly appreciated. THANKS.

A manual would be super nice, as I havn't had luck in locating. My biggest problem is the wiring at the starter and altenator since the color coding doesn't match the wiring diagram that I have. Have been using Seloc manual. Also have a missing guage in the dash. Attempting to post pics.

Re: 1965 Starcraft Holiday

Congrats... I have a 66. Got it wet first time last summer. Had lots of trouble getting parts for the 110. Mine is now mostly all converted to 120. I used a 120 as my parts motor. MANY more around. Went through mine top to bottom, stem to stern. I have many extra parts, stacks of books, .... If you need anything let me know. I would attach pics but, even though many have tried to help me, I have never been able to figure out how to post pics on here. Can't give you my email or it gets edited... Sorry.

Re: 1965 Starcraft Holiday

I just had to have one the exact 18' Starcraft Holiday I/O, 110 Mercuriser you have (year and model) so I bought one that had been neglected and partially submerged for about a year. Engine oil was bright yellow, but back then I had no idea what yellow oil meant.....but I do now.

Gave $1600 for it and it wasn't worth $500. Gutted it down to the bare hull transom and all. Gutted the engine and especially the outdrive...had to use JB weld (epoxy with steel powder) to rebuild some of the corrosion degredated gasketed sealing surfaces so that I could re-assemble it and get a surface for the seals to seal against.

That's where I found about how tough lower unit gears are after they have been heat treated. It wanted to slip out of F due to wear on the gear. Went to a machine shop for them to square off the sawtooth surfaces and they said, no way could they cut that stuff.

Anyway finished it and loved it. Sold it to to a son and he sold it to a friend over many years. Great boat. Would do about 35 with the 110 and 3-4 people. Purred like a kitten, so quiet, and so smooth in choppy water. Superb on fuel economy.

Only regret was that it only had power tilt and not trim. Knowing what I know today I could have probably adapted a trim unit but I was young and stupid back then.....now I am just old and stupid. Grin.

Enjoy.

A newbee here. Thanks for the welcome. We have spent 3 months looking for the EXACT boat and set up but with no luck, but haven't given up yet. The projects are awesome. Plenty of info here.

That Solec is a great manual, it's good as a kneepad when kneeling back around the motor.
It also lights the BBQ quite well when I toss a hunk o meat on there.

Try here for the real deal
