I love this forum, The more I read, the harder it is leave...

I am a proud owner of a 1966 (maybe 67) 35 HP Chrysler, outboard!

It runs good, but won't start... Idle is rough. I am very mechanically inclined, but outboards are new to me... I have the Clymers manual, on order, but would love any help or suggestions on this one... I am thinking, Carb rebuild kit to start, but really don't know anything about the timing.... It fires with a squirt of gas in carb, but won't stay running once that is burnt...?

It's in good shape, and I am thinking about restoring or rebuilding the whole dang thing...?

too serious for a weekend project??

sounds like the carb needs a good cleaning. i dont think changing the timming is a good idea on this motor as you will need a special tool that screws into the plug hole to reset it. timming wont as a rule change unless some one changes it point gap needs to be set at .020. be extra carefull with the fly wheel key these are a odd one and are getting hard to find

Thanks for the infor... I will be looking for a carb kit this week...
Any reccomendations for parts on this unit?

In addition, What about the Impeller? It came with a new one, still in the package...? Not sure if it is even the right one for this motor... When I get the Clymer Manual, I will know more??? ( I hope)

Again, Thanks for your assistance.
