bought this boat with the motor off it and didn,t get to test prior to buying thank god i didnt pay an arm and a leg for the outfit any hoo the motor runs great that a plus the downside is when i goto engage the forward shift lever it doesnt want to go it grinds / clcks and when i gointo reverse it goes into reverse not a problem i thought it may be the linkage and i adjusted it and when i do it now can go into forward grinds a little but goes and wont let me goint reverse so i read up on the previous posts ans adjusted it like the post say by marking the linkage at forwad and reverse and splitting the difference goes into reverse then gring/clicks when i try to go into forward gears..
sounds like theres a gear worn or somethin can a mechanicly inclinded person fix this with a manual ? can i get parts?if i take it to a mechanic what can i expect to pay?

i see this is your first post since i see you have over 80 views of this post and no replys i will offer up some notes number 1 punctuation number two spelling i had to read your post 4-5 times before i could understand it you will find you will get a lot more responses to your posts this way

That said, did you disconnect the shift linkage at the lower unit before making the marks? Did you check the oil level in the lower unit? Check for water/metal shavings in the lower unit by removing the drain plug (not the shift pivot screw)?
Oh, and welcome to iboats, we are here to help....
