Hello all,

I thought I would ask if anyone had access to an old Evinrude manual. I have a 1966 Evinrude 60653 60 HP 4 cyl Vtwin I'm working on and I need some specifics.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

I thought that was a V-4.-----What information do you need?----List the specific details.

Doh. I miss typed the subject. Yes it is a V-4cyl. I'm replacing the head gasket from an overheat and wanted to find the length of the head bolts to see if I shold replace them. They are in good condition physically but wondering if the had stretched, etc. I have no manual to reference. Unfortunutately it was a pretty good overheat. Impeller disintegrated after two years and it has no tell tale. Everything pulls through and it did not sieze up, just stopped from overheat. In fact I have run it since for a short time. Cylinder walls look good, no scoring. I'm not sure of ring condition. I have heard they can temper and the pistons can scuff the cylinders.... Any thoughts? I was going to replace the head gaskets and give her a whirl.

Head bolt should be fine. The manual won't give you any length spec anyway. Remove the bypass covers from the side of the cylinders for a peek at the rings.

Agreed.----Look at pistons / rings via the bypass covers.----And don't worry about head bolts.-----And the heads are warped.----They all are after 50 years of service.----Refinish the heads before installing them with new gaskets.
