Hey everyone im new to the site and have a few questions... let me first of start by saying sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area..So long story short I inherited a 1966 9.5 seahorse motor from a family member...doing its normal maintenance I pulled the plugs to find out that there was no spark. The plugs were beyond fouled so I headed to Canadian tire to pick up new ones I came back put them in hoping for spark. and of course they didn't work... So I pulled the fly wheel and checked all the ignition system set points to .020 or w.e I got spark in one plug but not the other so I pulled off the coils and sure enough to my surprise I found a good amount of corrsion in the one coil.. I tried to clean it up but the coil and tip of the spark plug were to corroded so I tried to pull the slack from the spark plug wire to be able to cut a fresh piece but I ended up ripping the cord so now I have no way of the coil making contact with the end of the plug...im so confused on how I get that plate off where all of the ignition stuff sits off the shaft...I need to change the plugs now can anybody give me a step by step process like I said I got the fly wheel off now im trying to get the ignition system off so I can replace spark plug wires thank in advance

It's really quite easy. Four screws hold it on. They are "captive" screws, meaning the will stay with the plate after you undo them enough to release the plate from the retainer below. Two go through the coils, two are between the coils and points/condensers. Usually Phillips, but not always.

Then there is that linkage thing. You have to slide off the little e-rings at the end and the short link, then remove the hex pivot bolt. Don't lose the washer below. And pay attention to how it actuates the carburetor throttle so you get it back correctly.

????You mean the plug wires? Yes, there are a couple of clamps & stuff you will have to remove. Kind of obvious when you look at it.
