Hi

I just got the manual for this thing today and it left me with a couple of questions.

In the area between the lower unit and the powerhead..just above the fins that the trim tab is attached, towards the front of the motor, there are two bumps..one on each side... what the heck are they? Something to do with some kind of automatic trim system? My manual says nothing about them.

The other question is..when I put it in reverse and give it too much throttle the engine hops out of the water. Those hooks that engage to lock the motor down aren't engaging all the way...how do I adjust those things..again the manual that I have (seloc) says nothing about them. (at least I can't find anything).

thanks in advance :)

Hi Reclic
I don't know about your bumps. Try oiling annd working the shaft that the reverse lock dogs ride on. There may be a spring missing? There is also a cam of sorts that turns with the shift shaft. This cam actuates the reverse lock linkage. This may be gummed up also. You will need to drop the lower unit to check this out. This reverse lock is covered in your manual. The trouble is, it is in bits and pieces form, scattered about in a couple different places in the book. There should be a few pieces in the L/U chapter and some more under the mid-section. Granted there won't be a whole ton of info, but then there is not a whole lot to this thing to begin with.
