Here is the deal. I can (probably ) pick up 6 hp Johnson from the guy next street. I went to take a look today and it refused to start, I mesured the comression and it was 70 and 90 after 3-4 pulls. I am not sure if this compression is ok for the smaller motor (125 is normal for bigger ones). Not very sure if it is even worth buying even for 50 bucks. The seller said he used it before he put it away for the winter and it did not start before i came.

I appreciate your opinions.
P.S. I need a smaller motor to use as the kicker.

for $50 I'd personally take a gamble, but I need a motor too so I'm probably desperate :)
Little marvel mystery oil in there and roll the dice.

Hmmm. That's a big difference in psi. But if you don't mind tinkering with it I'd sure get it. 90# is pretty good for that engine, 70#'s is low. You might need a head gasket or try a decarb. If neither help you could just run it as is until it packs it in.

Check for spark first, if you have it then work on the fuel system, try some 50:1 premix and squirt it in the carb and see if it kicks over at all.

3 or 4 pulls isn't enough to get a good reading with that window shade starter. Pull it till the gauge doesn't go any higher. Expect about 85 psi.
