1967 chrysler 75hp head & gasket question

Chrysler 75hp over heating .Can I replace head gasket # 85529-2 with newer style? also is there a better head to exchange to. That will cool better.Thank you Jim

I doubt the change of a head gasket will make a difference in an overheat situation?

Hi Gerald!
There is a post at iboat about head Chrysler 1967 75Hp.
Answer that there is a simliar post egen Frank A explain about this.
Early 3cyl. had a head with a cast watertube newer head was modified with a waterjacket cover plate at the head. This mod gave better cooling around the plugs.
The headgasket that is available now fits both but the early head use 3/8 bolts and the later 5/16.
So you have to make the holes for the bolts in the gasket a bit lager.
