Re: 1967 Evinrude Angler 5hp

Hi Ducker,
The Angler was kind of a ******* child. Evinrude made a budget model of the 6hp by mating the 6hp powerhead with the 4hp direct drive lower unit and called it a 5hp. They detuned the 6hp powerhead by closing up the reed stops a bit so that it limited the fuel flow a little. The book says to run it at a 50:1 mix, but it has bronze bushings at several spots in the powerhead, so richening it up a bit to 40:1 wouldn't hurt a thing.
Many of the consumable parts, such as coils, points, condensers, carb kits, fuel pumps, waterpump impellers, etc. are still readily available through dealers and aftermarket suppliers.
Not a bad little motor, but the throttle isn't very convenient...
- Scott

Thanks for the info, I truely appreciate it. And yeah the throttle is a real pain, no doubt about that. I got it for next to nothing so even if I have to put a little into her, that's not soo bad I guess. Thanks again.
Ducker27
