I was given a non running 9.5 Sportwin that is a 1967. I replaced the impeller, fuel pump and cleaned and rebuilt the carb. After all of this is still doesn't want to run well. In a tub/trash can it will start (only if throttle is advanced past start towards WOT) and then will run but at idle it wants to sneeze and cough. When opened up to WOT it seems to run fine. When the carb was put back together the lean/rich needle was backed out 1 1/2 turns from full seat.
When running I try to adjust the dial towards rich rut it doesn't seem to have any affect. If I adjust towards lean it wants to choke out and die. So I am assuming it has to be a fuel issue but can't figure out what. Also the fuel line from pump to carb was garbage so I replaced it with one that I had on hand which was 1/4" diameter. Could this bigger line be causing any issues? I have seen no leaks anywhere. Also the fuel line I replaced is a little longer, could the extra dip in the line and distance be causing it?
