i just got a evinrude fast win model 18702r from a buddy and it needs some tlc i was wondering what spark plugs it takes and whats the fuel mixture i heard it was 50:1 but that seems pretty lean for an old motor if anyone has a online manual that would be great as well any help is great thanks!

50:1 is correct. One pint-TCW-3 rated OB oil to six gallons/unleaded.

J4C plug or equivalent.

Get ready to replace the water pump too. All parts are available here on iboats.

Also, change the lower unit fluid. Make sure you replace the drain/fill plug seals.

thinking of your plugs ... J4C will definitely work but tend to foul quite readily unless your running at full speed pretty much all the time. I think J6C is a better choice particularly if you're thinking of doing any trolling or even 3/4 speed cruising. Both I believe are 'endorsed' by omc. The correct gap is .030 but personally I do mine a little wider (.034) - again, I find they run a little cleaner this way.
