Hi all,

So the 'ol girl is running ok now but throttle position has two problems: 1) When pushing fully forward on the remote control the cable at the motor will not fully extend throttle linkage to WOT and 2) When returning remote control back to neutral the cable will not return the motor linkage to it's fully closed position. I have used the black plastic thumb adjuster knob at the motor in every possible position and it doesn't help. My thought is the throttle cable is too long by a few feet. Where the cable exits the transom in the rear to hook into the motor it coils up over the top of the motor cover. Can/should I cut the throttle cable to a shorter length to fit my boat and get rid of the excess play? I'm not sure the size or type of boat this Johnny was on before but it's now on a 15.5' speed boat.

Thanks!

You can't cut the cables because of the way the ends are moulded onto the cable. When you got the motor, did the the control box come with it, or are you trying to make you control work with this motor.
It almost sounds like the throw of your control box does not match the motor.

not sure if they're the correct controls for the motor. owner said so..then again he also claimed it was in good running condition when I bought it!

Is there a way to tell - model number or other ID on the controls - if these controls work with this motor?
