Greetings, been reading some of the forum and my head is spinning. I have virtually new 1967 Johnson 20 HP outboard that has been a part time project for too many years. The story is long so for now I will jump to the current project.

1967 as best I can tell (not sure where I found that date)
Model FD21R
Serial Number J276 8331

I would like to buy a fuel pump that will replace the current 2 hose unit but current has hoses pointing to the right (as viewed from that side) and many possible replacements have those ports facing down. It would take some hose work to squeeze one in and I have a low confidence in which pump I would choose.

Thoughts on what would be a good replacement?

has a picture, second pair 1965. But that pump is mounted on the upper cylinder and mine is on the lower leaving little room for hoses to attach from bottom. Can post pictures with help.

Thoughts welcome.

Parts book shows a '67 as being on the top cylinder. If yours is on the bottom, so move it already. Unless it isn't really a '67.

I like the Sierra 18-7051

EDIT: 18-7351

Thanks F_R. As will be evident I'm a novice when it comes to outboards but I'm determined to learn this one. Exactly what you suggested was going to be one of my questions but haven't been able to find anything stating that is an option. If I move it to the upper cylinder I will have a lot more room for the hoses.
Now I just need to identify a new 2 hose pump that is compatible.

Thanks
Bud
