Hello,
I'm new to these forums but I've come here for maintenence advice for quite some time. My query is a simple one. I have a 1967 Johnson Super Seahorse 40hp Electric and the previous owner decided to take apart the engine and accidentally drop a small bolt inside the crankcase. Coincidentally while I was out on the lake the crankshaft pushed the bolt into my front block and poked a hole about 2 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inches wide. My question is... Where can i find a replacement front block. Its the part where the reed plate attaches to. It seperates from the piston block. If i need to provide pictures i can.
Thank you for your consideration.

Well i found the correct part number. It's the same number tx1961whaler gave. Its 380253. But the problem with that is that number applies to the peice i need as well as the other side of the engine which i do not need. Is there anyway i can get just the peice i need?

Getting kind of particular, aren't we? :D :D
A brand new block for a 43 year old motor in stock for $195...I'd get the whole thing and swap everything over......you're gong to have to take the powerhead off anyway.
Anyway, you can try calling around for a used part:

Yeah i am kinda particular lol. reason i dont want to have to swap it over is because the rest of the engine is fantastic, good compression, heat sensor works great. If i swapped over everything i'd have to get piston rings, a new heat sending unit, a new thermostat, and then i'd have to hone and rebuild it. But i guess for 195 bucks i can just use the one peice and keep the other part as a spare.

A comment, you can't just use half the block as they are line bored at the factory.
