When I was out fishing today. I was running my engine in nuetral and realized there was gear oil coming up to the surface. When I would put it in gear I wouldn't see any but that might of been b/c I was moving. Does this meen I have to take apart the gear casing b/c there's probably water in it? Is there any tricks to sealing up a gearcase that I don't know about?
Thank you

How do you know it was gear oil and not just oily exhaust residue?

Drain and look at your gear oil to see if there's water getting in there.

I drained it and the oil looked pretty white colored but I didn't actually see any water. I don't get where the exuast would be coming from on the shaft? I could actually see little white balls floating around, about the same color as the oil I drained out. The balls would float up to the top and pop, sending oil on the water surface.
