I have no water flow. I pulled lower unit and took water pump apart ( Impeller was broken up in pieces). I removed all pieces I could find, then flowed water backward through pee hole to flush if there was small rubber peices . then i install new impeller closed up water pump and reinstalled lower unit. I hook up water to lower unit and start motor. after a few seconds there is a lot of steam coming out of the pee hole but no water. does anyone have a sugestion?
any sugestions

Re: 1967 Mercury 50 hp. no water flow

When you had the lower unit off did you flow water up the water supply tube to see if you could get water to circulate thru the powerhead?

If you can't, it's time for exploratory surgery which could include removing the water jacket cover over the spark plugs (watch out for stuck bolts!), or as extreme as removal of the powerhead to check for obstructions.

You may have a chunk of rubber impeller way up in the water tube or in the powerhead, blocking water flow.

Running water or blowing air up the supply tube will be very telling. Let us know what you find...........ed
