Ok so my service manual is on its way, but I need to know if it explains how to set the points. If not can someone please give a breif description on how to set them. Right under the d.cap it says to set then to .20. Should I stick with this setting ? Thanks for the help in advance

Look carefully at the belted distributor pulley and the bracket on which it turns. Rotate the pulley and watch when the points start to open. You'll see that a mark on the pulley lines up with a mark on the bracket..... that is where you would set the points to open when using a ohm meter. There may be two marks on the bracket, one for each set of points.... my memory is a little foggy on that point.

If not using a ohm meter, simply set the points on the high lobe of the cam so that a .020 gauge will pass thru but a .022 will not.

And it's easier to rotate the distributor if you take the belt off instead of turning the engine over at the same time. Just draw a mark on the belt and the distributor pulley and flywheel so it will be easy to re-install.

look for the second timing mark 90 degrees past the first mark. It should be between the pulley and the block.
