Still trying to get the 1968 55hp TR-10R to start. So far I have cleaned and set the points(points were corroded enough to not get a signal). They test fine with the Ohm meter now, even got the motor to fire a few times but would not run. The stator looks good I think but I haven't tested it yet. Got excited when I realized the points weren't working at first, was hoping they were the only issue.
The problem I'm having now is blowing the 20 amp fuse on the green wire from the ignition switch. This wasn't happening at first but now it blows the fuse either after cranking the starter for a few seconds or sometimes just when I re-connect the battery after changing out the fuse. Motor has new plugs and also just rebuilt the carbs before trying to start it. Compression 120 on all cylinders. Also just installed new motor wiring harness, rectifier, and coil.
