1968 65 hp 4cyl copper water tube fell out

I am changing the water pump impeller. I have the new impelller and pump cover on and I was trying to put the lower unit back on and the copper tube fell out of the upper housing. Does this tube just push back in the upper housing? I can see the hole where it goes but I didnt want to start pushing on it. I also am goin to have to line up the splines once i get the tube back on. I know this was probably already answered but i couldnt fnd it. I really appreciate any help with this

the water tube fits right back in the hole it came out of .grease the splines and the tube ends .the lower unit must be in the same gear as the shifter up top or you will be starting all over again. when you bring the lower unit up turn the flywheel and the splines will come together
